Caixa Forum Building...

We have a new building in Madrid; the Caixa Forum designed by the famous Swiss architects Herzog & DeMeuron…

It’s fundamentally a temporary expositions building, with conference rooms, library and cafeteria (on the last floor)… The building conserves the volume of the old ‘Mediodía’ electric station; the existing brick volume was literally raised from the ground to permit the entrance in the building and enlarged by a new rusty steel volume on the top…

The building is situated in paseo del Prado in a really privileged position, near to Atocha station, the Prado museum and the Reina Sofia art center museum… u cant miss it…

The vertical garden is the work of Patrick Blanc.

To know more about it…

(MAD) STAFF EXCUSES...

Hope that (MAD) daily photo readers can excuse me and my blog friends... For this two months of inactivity... u know, every one of us was counting on the other to actualize (MAD)... and that didn't happened... Sometimes (has some of u know) is really difficult, when you have a very full life, to combine every thing you have to do... and you just leave something behind... Thats what happened... We will try to redeem our selfs from now on... Bringing life to (MAD) daily photo again... Thanks every one for being there...

Starting a New Year at (MAD)...

At the end of the “Paseo del Parterre” in the Retiro Park you can find the beautiful Felipe IV door, it’s a beautiful baroque style monument, work of Melchor buenas, it dates from 1680, even if it was translated to it’s actual position only in 1922.

Right in front the “Casón del Buen Retiro” build in 1637 by Alonso Carbonell as dance room of the Buen Retiro Palace actually part of the Prado Museum.

...¿wanna camera?... r (1)

This is going to be the first of a series of Rastros pictures taken on my last trips to this strange and at the same time wonderful contradictory place… point of union between cultures, social classes, where you can find almost every thing, and when I say every thing I mean every thing… let me show u…

Oh! And before I forgot is really crowded so be careful with your personal stuff…

El Rastro is the most popular open air flea market in Madrid and probably in all Spain. It is held every Sunday and public holiday (from 09.00 to 15.00) during the year and is located along Plaza de Cascorro and Ribera de Curtidores, between Calle Embajadores and the Ronda de Toledo (La Latina metro station or Tirso de Molina will take u there, just follow the people).

Posada del Peine...

The Famous and historic Posada del Peine (Comb inn) located in the center of Madrid near to Plaza Mayor, was founded around 1610, that makes it almost 400 years old... one of the oldest buildings in Madrid...

Four meter forty of housing

Looking for sites for a competition I am working in I found this gable roofed house. It is built in a suburbian environment and seems to be conform to the local urbanistic laws. Looks strange, doesn't it?

Cars are leaving, monuments are staying.

Houses and monuments are looking at us, we are the kids who were born, are passing and dying. They are the attestors, surviving its creators...
