Old Atocha Station Interior
The old Atocha station building was (re)built around 1890 after a fire in the original building from 1851; the author of the project was the Gustave Eiffel pupil Alberto de Palacio. The station was 152 meters long and 40 meters large. The old building is now converted in a 4.000 Sqm of covered tropical garden, and comercial center.

on dirait un vieil hangar qui sert de musée, j'adore ce jardin en plein dans la station. belle photo, les teintes et les couleurs sont très belles.

It's a very beautiful place, big volume .
The combination of the iron and the brick(hope I am right, and it is really bricks) walls gives some warmth..
and it seems the plants like that warmth!!!
It still has the structure of the old railway station! Wonderful!
It's good when old buildings are used for something else, instead of being destroyed.
Beautiful reuse of a grand old building. Idiots tore down Birmingham's historic terminal. What can I say!

I like how you keep it square! Did you use a tripod?
Hola, what a fantastic photo! I'm not a madrileña, but I adore Madrid and your photos let me see another side of your splendid town. Gracias. Ciao. Antonella
Very impressive! And look at the plants growing inside. ;-)

Un precioso reportaje de Madrid.
That is gorgeous. It looks like a great place to stop and have a coffee.
We have such a station in France, which was transformed in Musée d'Orsay.
I posted about a chapel which is now le Musée des Arts et Techniques ; both are in Paris.
I like how this is converted into different levels of exhibition so the look can travel through the wide space inside. Beautiful
(And the tropical plants surely are happy especially because of the light)
What a great capture. I can feel the size of this place.
Beautiful architecture.
And the tropical garden is wonderful.
It looks like park.
I love the way you framed up the interior of the old Atocha station...great perspective!
Have a great weekend :)
Wonderful! It's great that the old station has been reused — so much better than just having it demolished and replaced by a modern skyscraper.
Wow! I would love to see this myself. Your city is beautiful!

i love train stations, they are the best meeting places
hopefully they will always remain user-friendly unlike airports these days
Fatastic photo of the not least fantastic Atocha station!
The architecture is wonderful. A place to enjoy during cold weather.
I've been here - it is very impressive .
That's beautiful. Minus the plants and trees it looks a lot like the central station in Copenhagen, Denmark.
