New and Old overlayer...
The Jeronimos church and the new Moneo building (Prado museum ampliation) superimposed... This view is of complex comprehension, much criticized by many, but from my point of view very rich... it gives complexity to the urban landscape; isn't this what "the city" is all about?... layers over layers of time and space and life - and what ever you fill like - on the same place?!...

Very interesting contrast between the old and the new. "Louis" rarely prefers 'modern' architecture when compared to older buildings. This image is a good case in point. The old building has soul, the new one does not. The function of the new building here is to help us better appreciate the old one!
It's so easy to critizise, but it's much harder to invent something new just for ourselves.
I like the contrast between ancient and modern ! to answer your question ,in summer time in Iceland the sun never sleeps so you can practically read at midnight ;) that's great and i enjoyed it ! but you can also sleep with something to hide your eyes if the light bothers you ;)
Hi ! first visit to your blog, thanks to HPY !
I have always liked the mixing of old and new architecture ... it looks more like life !
A brilliant composition ! I will give 8 out of 10. In between that place is not abandoned....Govt is doing its best to protect it....
Nice contrast!
That's an amazing contrast! Gorgeous picture!
I agree, I think that is definitely what the city is all about.
It's an amazing juxtaposition of the generations of architecture. Fascinating shot.
I like it too!
I don't see why only the "old" would have the privilege of beauty...
I very much like the combination of the two,and I enjoy challenging my eye to "new"!
I like the contrast of the roof of the church against the blue sky
what a beautiful contrast - red white and blue
I agree that variety in city architecture is a good thing. How homely it would appear if everything looked the same!
